Short Curriculum Vitae
Mario Botsch is professor in the Computer Science Department at TU Dortmund University, where he is heading the Chair of Computer Graphics. Before joining TU Dortmund in 2020, he was leading the Computer Graphics Group at Bielefeld University. He received his M.Sc. in mathematics from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (1999), worked at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (1999-2000), received his PhD in computer science from RWTH Aachen (2005), and was PostDoc at ETH Zurich (2005-2008). The focus of his research is the efficient acquisition, optimization, animation, and visualization of three-dimensional geometric objects. He is currently investigating 3D-scanning and motion capturing of humans, modelling and animation of virtual characters, and real-time visualization in interactive virtual reality scenarios.
